These are the annual things that start my New Year. Then the typical new years day normally means I lay around all day in the same PJs I wore to my best friends house on New Years Eve and watch movies. Not today. Today, I cleaned my soon to be someone else's home. And Then I went to my Aunts wedding.
Today, though I did all the things I LOVE at midnight, and my aunts wedding was a joy to attend, there was sorrow hung in the air as news spread about another one of God's children being called home. Unfortionately, I didn't hear the news until my sister told me this evening at my Aunts wedding. I had to say a brief prayer then place the news in the back of my mind for the time because it was no place for sadness at such a joyful ceremony. Mrs. Jordan was not only my elementary school principal, but also the mother of an long time friend of mine. I started in Kindergarten with Liz and Graduated from High School with her as well. My heart aches for her and her family during this time as there are no words adequate enough to console their hearts. Mrs. Jordan passed away today due to complications from an Aneurysm. Everything was very unexpected. While most of us were ringing in the new year with bells and whistles, there was a family grieving and aching for a wife, mother, and sister. James and I are spending this night and many weeks to come in prayer for the Jordans. Mrs. Jordan loved Jesus and she will certainly be missed by many.

If you haven't figured out by now, I'm a lover of Hymns and of Gospel music. This song I'm about to post now is also a favorite. It very much applies to God Calling us home. I can imagine Mrs. Jordan at some point in her lifetime singing this song, especially as the Choir Director at Beech Grove UMC. I think it's fitting. It talks about God taking our hand and leading us home all through out different times in our lives, right up to the end. I believe that Mrs. Jordan would have been singing many songs to her Savior as death sprung so rapidly on her. Though a very sad and grief stricken time for those she left behind, it was a time of immense joy for her to finally be led home by her Father's hand.
Take My Hand, Precious Lord
"Precious Lord, take my hand,
Lead me on, let me stand,
I am tired, I am weak, I am worn;
Through the storm,
through the night,
Lead me on to the light:
Take my hand, precious Lord,
Lead me home
When my way grows drear,
Precious Lord, linger near,
When my life is almost gone,
Hear my cry,
Hear my call
Hold my hand lest I fall:
Take my hand, precious Lord,
Lead me home
When the darkness appears
And the night draws near,
And the day is past and gone,
At the river I stand,
Guide my feet, hold my hand:
Take my hand, precious Lord,
Lead me home
Take my hand, precious Lord,
Lead me home"
Lead me home"
(I apologize for still not knowing how to post the actual music onto the blog. Most of the hymns I post are easily found free to listen to through google. But if you're really interested, I can send you the music. Just let me know.) :)
Nice to see you have a blog too! You definitely have a gift for writing! What an inspiration! Hope you are doing well, and congrats on the house!
